In our donors' words
Every testimonial below is based on real donor feedback. If you’ve donated a boat recently, we’d be honored to include your experience. Submissions are edited only for clarity and length.
Donating to a true nonprofit mattered to me. When I started researching boat donation programs, I learned quickly that not every site online represents an actual charity. My boat was worth $16,000, and I wanted to be sure that value went toward helping people, not toward overhead or anything wasteful. Boats With Causes took the time to explain exactly how donations are used and how the proceeds support families, veterans, and children. Their transparency made the decision easy. Every step of the process felt professional, and I always knew what was happening with my boat. I don’t usually write testimonials, but I wanted others to know this is a legitimate, trustworthy organization. If you’re considering donating your boat, I can say from experience that you’re in good hands here.
We upgraded to a bigger fishing boat and my husband was unable to sell our other boat as easy as he was thinking it would be. I think he spent around $500 in gas and too many hours of his time over the last 5 months and it started feeling like everyone was just looking for a free boat ride or something. I found you online, filled out the fishing boat donation form and within 2 hours someone called back and arranged for the free pick up. Everything was very professional and we received a nice tax break. Thanks again!
My family somehow accumulated 4 sailboats here in San Diego and we obviously didn't need them all. I found your website on google and compared you to a couple other charities. I called you up and we spoke and the donation was arranged. I explained to you that the 3rd boat had to be moved because it was illegally moored here in the San Diego Bay. Within 24 hours the boat was moved and we feel relieved. Thanks!
I easily donated my Searay and boat trailer after trying to sell my boat for too long. You guys made the whole process really easy and the boat was gone in only 2 days. I also donated my old Chrysler to you and feel confident I made the right choice in donating with you. All the best.
I called around to local charity centers and they didn't want my houseboat donation. I was looking for an experienced, real charity and after a little research Boats with Causes stood out as my best option. Fast and friendly!
You are my boat angel sent from the heavens above! Finally that boat is out of here! I listened to my husband say he was going to restore it for 8 years. Enough was enough. I told him it was either the motorcycle or the boat that had to go. He chose the boat, I cried for joy, your little angel Mike came and towed it away 4 days later! I have already picked out a cactus to plant in the new spot. Awesome!
I am 67 years old and am an avid striped bass fisherman and have been for 47 years. I have owned 7 boats with my most recent being the 31' Bertram I donated to you guys. I realized I was getting a little old to go out by myself and all of my kids and grandkids now live in California, which helped me with the idea to donate it to charity. Sam, the one with the 22' bayliner donated to you here in Montauk gave me your number. I spoke with someone at your charity and "Bite Me" was towed away in less than a week. Ill be fishing from shore now. God Bless!
I know I told you already on the phone but I really want to say you guys are fantastic once again. I was trying to sell my 24' SunTracker Party Barge for over 4 months with no luck at all. My friend Randy told me to just donate it and use it as a deduction for my taxes. I asked around and everyone at the marina I spoke with suggested Boats with Causes so I gave you guys a call. You made this whole process very easy and I thank you and wish you and your charity the best.
I wanted to thank you once again for helping us with our abandoned boat problem here at our boat yard in New Jersey. After adding the section to our contract stating all vessels left on our premises with no payment for 180 days results in an automatic donation to charity, we seem to be getting paid on time now. We of course still have those that do not pay and you have made it very easy to donate the abandonded boats to your charity as we have discussed. I would strongly recommend any marina or boat storage facility to use Boats with Causes as a tool to better their business.
I’d owned my Catalina for almost twenty years, and the idea of dealing with the title, the marina paperwork, and the haul‑out made me hesitate. Boats with Causes handled every bit of it. No hidden fees, no surprises. The boat was gone in 9 days, and I had an official tax receipt in my inbox before the weekend. I’m genuinely glad it went to a cause that helps families.
I was relocating and didn’t have time to list my Beneteau or deal with tire‑kickers. I arranged the appraisal, the transporter coordinated with the harbor master, and kept me updated step by step. It felt professional from start to finish. What I expected to be a stressful process turned into a huge weight off my shoulders.
My little daysailer had been sitting in storage for years. I figured donating it would be complicated, but they made it unbelievably easy. Quick pickup, clear communication, and it didn’t cost me a dime. Knowing it’s helping kids made me smile.
I inherited a center console from my dad and didn’t know where to begin. Stephanie answered every question, handled the paperwork, and arranged transport from the marina. I felt taken care of the whole time. Peace of mind is the best way to describe it.
Our pontoon boat was taking up space at our house, and selling it sounded exhausting. You did all the heavy lifting, title transfer, pickup, everything. It was out of our yard in 2 weeks. Couldn’t believe how smooth it went.
I donated my Tracker bass boat after upgrading, and the process was shockingly smooth. No fees, no hassle. They even helped me track down an old title issue. Very professional team.
Managing a yacht donation sounded like a nightmare... Closing documents, insurance releases, marina logistics, appraisal. The Boats with Causes team handled everything with absolute precision. I was kept informed every step of the way, and the tax deduction was a huge relief. Truly impressed.
Our jetskis had become more trouble than fun. Boats with Causes arranged pickup in 3 days, took care of the trailer title, and made the whole thing stress‑free. It felt good knowing the donation actually mattered.
