This page explains, in plain English, what information we collect when you use this site or donate a boat, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

Who we are
Boats with Causes is the boat donation program of Giving Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 92-1162407. When this policy says "we," it means Giving Center and its Boats with Causes program.
What we collect
When you fill out a form or call us, we collect what you give us:
- Your name, phone number, and email address
- Details about your boat, where it is, and its paperwork
- Photos you upload
- Anything you write in a message or tell us on a call
What we collect automatically
Like most websites, we use Google Tag Manager, analytics tools, and Microsoft Bing tools to understand how people use the site, such as which pages are visited and whether a form was submitted. These tools may use cookies and collect information like your browser type, device, general location, and pages viewed. They do not give us your name unless you provide it in a form.
How we use it
- To review your boat and contact you about the donation
- To arrange pickup with a member of our trusted transport team
- To transfer the title and complete the sale
- To prepare and send your Form 1098-C or written acknowledgment, as the IRS requires
- To answer your questions and improve this site
Who we share it with
We share only what is needed to complete your donation:
- Our transport team members receive your name, phone number, and the boat's location so they can schedule pickup
- State agencies and the U.S. Coast Guard receive title and transfer information
- The IRS receives the Form 1098-C information required by law
- Service providers who host this site, deliver our email, and run our forms, under agreements to protect your information
- Our sister programs at Giving Center, only if you ask us to help with another donation
What we do not do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not share buyer or donor details with each other.
How long we keep it
We keep donation records, including tax forms, for as long as tax and charity laws require. We delete other information, such as inquiries that did not become donations, when we no longer need it.
Your choices
- You can ask to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, except records we must keep by law
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings
- You can ask us to stop contacting you at any time
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections on this site, to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send sensitive financial information such as bank account numbers through our forms.
Children
This site is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
