What we look at
- Make, model, horsepower, and year
- Hours and service records
- Shaft length and rigging: mechanical, digital, or joystick controls
- Compression and whether it runs
- Propeller, controls, harness, and gauges included
Complete is worth more
An outboard with its controls, wiring harness, gauges, and propeller is worth much more than a bare powerhead. Keep everything together, including any spare parts and the owner manual.
Titles and registration
A few states title or register outboard motors separately from the boat. If yours has its own title or a decal, have it ready. Our outboard motor titles guide explains what to check.
Makes we see often
Yamaha, Mercury, Mercury Verado, Suzuki, Honda, Evinrude E-TEC, Tohatsu, and Johnson.
Not on the list? It is here to help you find your boat, not to limit what we take. We accept every make and model, listed or not, including rare builders and companies that closed decades ago. A donation depends on the boat's condition and paperwork, never the name on the hull, so enter yours on the form even if you do not see it here.
Questions
The outboard does not run. Do you still want it?
Often, yes, especially newer four-strokes. Tell us what you know and send photos of the data plate.
Do you take two-stroke outboards?
Case by case. Late-model direct-injection two-strokes like the Evinrude E-TEC still have buyers.
Can you pick up just the motor?
Yes. Strap it to a stand or pallet and one pickup handles it.
